Anambra: three vigilante operatives killed by gunmen

Operating Gunmen  in the Igboukwu community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State has reportedly  killed three vigilante operatives.

Happening247 gathered that the leader of the vigilance group in the community and two of his men were relaxing in a beer parlor on Wednesday when they were shot.

It was said that the gunmen, came in a vehicle, and shot at the operatives who were not ready for war at the time.

The three, including their leader, illustrated as Shaba, were all killed on the spot, while the gunmen ran away.

There has been disagreement about the killing, some community members believe that Shaba and his men were killed by members of a kidnapping coalition, whose operation of the vigilance group has shortened to a level through their pro activeness.

However others believe that the men may have been killed by dissidents who see members of vigilance groups as rivals, who they always refer to as Ebubeagu.

The State police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, has confirmed the incident.

He said;

“There is a deliberate operation ongoing now aimed at apprehending the attackers. Meanwhile, patrols have been intensified within Aguata and its environs. Further development shall be communicated please.
