At least 15 people have been reported dead and reasonable number were left severely injured during Calabar carnival that was held at cross-river state today December 27, 2022.
The carnival which started earlier this month claimed to lives of many Nigerian youths today including some of the students of federal university of Calabar.
Information gathered by happening 247 was that today is the bikers day ( a phase in the Calabar carnival where participants are expected to race with their power bikes) and every major roads or routes that will be used by the bikers are always shut down.
However the information gathered was that the unfortunate incident that led to the accident that claimed the lives of many youth was that a civilian tired to flaw the rules of the carnival by driving through the routes strictly mapped out for the bikers and the bikers ended up crashing into him,pedestrians, and spectators.
The accident, that occurred in front of a Mosque in Bogobiri along Mary Slessor during the Bikers Carnival claimed the live of at least 15 people and 29 more people were injured.
However, the remains of the dead people have reportedly been deposited at the morgue while the injured ones were rushed to the naval hospital and uncial teaching hospital for immediate attention
