Federal Government pleads with former military officials protesting for outstanding allowance

The federal government has pleaded to the military vets protesting for outstanding Security Debarment Allowance for over time.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana addressed the former military officers on Tuesday in Abuja.

The official proved to the contrary, the allegation that the funds had been released but payment was hindered by the ministry.

“As the Accounting Officer of the Ministry, I am demanding you give peace a chance and go home. We will revert to you as soon as possible”, he promised.

The protesters were assured by Kans, that the Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) was troubled about their difficulty.

The permanent secretary quenched their fear over fresh confirmation exercise before payment, summing up, that the existing database of all veterans will be used.

The veterans’ spokesperson, Biodun Albert attributed the misinformation and insinuations to the communication gap between them and the authorities.

The one-time personnel agreed to go back home and vacated the border they erected at the entrance of the Defence Headquarters.
