Two Bishops lost in the Anglican Communion of Nigeria

Two Bishops of the Anglican Communion of Nigeria lost to death within the last 24 hours.

The departed are Archbishop of Lagos Province, Anglican Communion and Bishop of Lagos Diocese, Most Reverend Humphrey Olumakaiye and Bishop of Ndokwa Diocese, Rev’d David Obiosa.

Olumakaiye died at the age of 53 and his death was declared by the Synod Secretary, Segun Ladeinde and Chancellor, Justice Adedayo Oyebanji.

A declaration co-signed by Ladeinde and Oyebanji said the details of his burial would be made general soon.

The statement tells: “His Episcopal sojourn in the Diocese of Lagos and subsequently the Province was characterised by phenomenal, physical and spiritual developments, for which all of us shall remain very proud.”

The departed was born on January 28, 1969.

He was voted for translation into the Diocese of Lagos in February 2018, and enthroned as the eighth Bishop of Lagos in 2018.

His enthronement took place at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos.

On the 25th of September In 2021, he came to be the Archbishop of the Province of Lagos and was officially enthroned in 2021, at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Gwarimpa.
